How to manually access the ScopeControl Touch Screen hardware to check the cables and connections

In case a ScopeControl screen is not working

If your ScopeControl screen has turned black or is unresponsive you can first check with a separate screen or via VNC if there is life in the unit. To check this is described in this article.

If the screen is accessible through VNC, it means the screen output from the PC and the PC are fine. Through VNC you can also continue to use the device until a solution has been found. Dovideq can turn this feature on for you if necessary.

In case the output is fine you can check the cables. To manually access the touch screen and cables follow the next steps.

  • Open de main lid.
  • Unscrew the 24 screws inside the lid using a torx 10 bit.
  • carefully remove the two covers inside the lid.
  • you can now check the cables that are connected with the touch screen.

In the above pictures you can see the following cables:

  • power supply, circled in red
  • cable for touch input, circled in blue
  • DIVX cable for image, circled in green

These cables should not get loose, however checking them can prevent a good screen to be replaced.
If you have a multimeter you can check to see if there is 12v on the power cable.

The flat-cables on screen version 2, shown below, can also be the cause of a faulty screen. You can check to see if it is still connected or has come loose.

If none of the above mentioned solutions helped, unfortunately you will need a new screen.
If this is the case, you can keep using the above mentioned VNC methode until a new replacement screen is available.
