What does Particle Detection (PD) measure?

LightControl parameter PD.

  • What does it measure?
    • Measures whether particles have been entering the the internal sections of the scopes.
  • How does it measure it?
    • The camera takes multiple images and determines creates an image histogram.
  • How does it relate to the previous measurement?
    • It compares with and adds the images to a neural network.

Broader explanation

This measurement is done to ensure that contaminated endoscopes do not enter the operating room, that endoscopes are repaired or replaced in a timely manner and that endoscopes do not cause (cross) contamination.

The camera takes multiple images and makes a histogram of them. Then the system references the image set to the previous images of this endoscope and the neural network of EndoscopeManager. Based on this, a pass/fail is triggered. The images are then added to the neural network.
