LightControl parameter LT.
- What does it measure?
- Light troughput of the lenses.
- How does it measure it?
- RGB value converted to luminance.
- How does it relate to the previous measurement?
- It uses an average reference value from a group of new scopes.
Broader explanation
This measurement is done to ensure good visibility and light throughput for the surgeon during operation.
The measuring device uses a calibrated light source which passes through the endoscope to the eyepiece which is connected to a camera.
The camera takes consecutive images and the system records relevant data on a pixel level.
Each pixel has an RGB value in the color spectrum. The combination of all pixels is converted into a luminance value by an algorythm specifically designed for this task.
The system uses the images to cross-reference the measured value with data known about this brand and type of endoscope in the system using a bespoke algorythm.
Based on the measured value and the reference value, a score between 0 and 100% is given. The pass/fail score can be adjusted by the user. Dovideq sets it at 70% as a standard.
