LightControl parameter FB
- What does it measure?
- It measures the light traveling through the light fibers.
- How does it measure it?
- A photodiode receives light from a light source and assesses how many fibres or which part of the fibres doesn’t transmit light anymore.
- How does it relate to the previous measurement?
- It uses an average reference value from a group of new scopes.
Broader explanation
This measurement is done to ensure that the fibers in the endoscope allow enough light to pass through. This prevents an endoscope from having to be replaced during surgery because the image is not bright enough due to the light cone being too weak.
A photocell is attached to the lightpost of the endoscope, which captures the emitted calibrated LED light. Based on an original reference and reference from a group of new endoscopes, it is determined how much light has passed through.
This assessment essentially indicates how many fibers or what part of the fiber package no longer allows light to pass through.
A value is assigned to this assessment from 0 to 100% for this particular endoscope. Dovideq sets it at 70 as a standard.
