ScopeControl maintenance: mirror cleaning

How to clean the mirror

If you get an error 309, the ScopeControl has a dirty mirror.

The following procedure is recommended to be performed by instructed staff. A dirty mirror will result in a faulty scope enry detection and most likely an aborted measurement.

It is extremely difficult to clean the mirror when finger prints, grease or oil is on the surface of the mirror. In case the mirror cannot be succesfully cleaned at some point (or is damaged) the complete mirror assembly should be replaced

The mirror is located under the lid on the right side in the vicinity of the sphere.

Below some instructions for light / medium / heavy cleaning.

Dust

Use a soft and clean brush to remove dust from the mirror. Brush from the center to the outer edges.

Finger prints

Use a soft and dry cotton cloth that absorbs grease easily. Start cleaning from the center with a circular motion towards the edges of the mirror. Make sure stains are completely removed. Finish by brushing away dust particles

Oil and heavy finger prints

Use a cloth with cleaning alcohol to remove the greasy substance. Rinse the cloth and use it to clean the mirror so that the alcohol does not stain. Use a dry cotton to polish the mirror. Finish by brushing away dust particles
