How to share internet (wifi) from a windows laptop to a Dovideq System via Ethernet
When a dedicated Ethernet connection is not available, you can share a wifi connection over ethernet from your laptop.
Before we start, this should not be your first solution. Internet sharing on windows can be very unreliable but can work if nothing else is available.
Step 1: Connect to Wi-Fi
-
Make sure your laptop is connected to the Wi-Fi network that has internet access.
Step 2: Connect the Ethernet Cable
-
Connect your Dovideq system to your laptop via Ethernet and make sure the system is turned on. If your laptop does not have ethernet, you can use an adapter or docking station. There's no guarantee your specific adapter or docking station will work, but most do.
Step 3: Open Network Settings
-
Press Windows key + R, type
ncpa.cpl, and hit Enter. -
This opens the Network Connections window.
Step 4: Identify Network Connections
-
Find your Wi-Fi adapter (connected to the internet).
-
Find your Ethernet adapter (the one connected to the other device).
Step 5: Enable Internet Connection Sharing
-
Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter → Select Properties.
-
Go to the Sharing tab.
-
Check the box: Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection.
-
From the dropdown menu under Home networking connection, select your Ethernet adapter.
-
Click OK.
Step 6: Check functionality
On your Dovideq System, check to see if you have a connection.
LightControl & GuideControl: The circle on top should be a deep blue colour.
LeakControl: Run a test and see if the results are uploaded to the corresponding EndoscopeManager account.
