How to check/validate your LeakControl
Instructions for use for testing a LeakControl with the equipment provided with the service kit to verify functionality
Required Equipment
The service kit has been designed to equip users and service technicians with the equipment to effectively test the performance of the LeakControl.
- Bulb pump with dial and needle valve [mmhg] (seen here attached to the LeakControl)

- Plastic Occluding Tube Clamp (Hemostat)

For accurate pressure decay testing let pressure stabilize before starting timer
Verifying the Bulb Pump is Airtight
- Clamp the end of the tube attached to the bulb pump with the tube clamp
- Ensure that the needle valve on the bulb pump is shut
- Increase the Pressure to 220 mmhg, using the needle valve the pressure can slowly be decreased to gently set the pressure
- Wait 3 seconds to let the pressure settle to a stable value
- Take note of the needle position and wait 120 seconds
- After 120 seconds verify that the pressure has decreased by less than 13.3 mbar or 10 mmhg, if this is not the case bulb pump has an internal leak which will influence the following tests
- Remove the tube clamp, the bulb pump is now ready to test the LeakControl for internal leaks
Testing for Internal Leaks
- Connect the bulb pump to the CPC-connector
- Ensure that the needle valve on the bulb pump is open to circumvent the blockage detection, due to the very low volume
- Start a regular leak test with the LeakControl
- Wait 3 seconds and close the needle valve on the bulb pump to let the pressure reach its set point
- Clamp the tubing 3 cm from the connector and let the test proceed
- If the LeakControl prompt that there is no leakage detected with a green light your LeakControl is good to go!
Test for Minimal Overpressure Safety Feature
- Connect the bulb pump to the CPC-connector
- Ensure that the needle valve on the bulb pump is open to circumvent the blockage detection, due to the very low volume
- Start a regular leak test with the LeakControl
- Wait 3 seconds and close the needle valve on the bulb pump to let the pressure reach its set point
- While the test is in progress open the needle valve of the bulb pump to simulate a slow leak; the device should start increasing the pressure when it drops below 50 mbar or 37.5 mmhg to a safe pressure of the pressure to 185 mbar or 140 mmhg to prevent water ingress
Verify the pressure reading with Bulb Pump
- Ensure the needle of the manual hand pump is shut
- Press the start button in order to start a test and wait 5 seconds; So the LeakControl does not reach the set point pressure to quickly which will stop the test because the device will have detected a blockage
- After 5 seconds connect the bulb pump to the CPC-connector; If the pressure set point cannot be reached the device needs to be serviced
- Let the LeakControl build pressure and compare the "Stable at: Press: xxx mbar" pressure value to the measured pressure on the bulb pump; Be careful to compare the right pressure reading do not compare the "Compressor OFF press. xxx mbar" or the "Stabilizing press. xxx mbar"
- The deviation should not be more than 4 mmhg or 5.33 mbar, if the pressure difference is too high and the device successfully passed the internal leak test the pressure sensor needs to be calibrated
Check Safety Pressure Relief
- Plug in the bulb pump with a closed needle valve
- During start up press both start and stop button to enter the setup menu (when a scanner is available quick scan codes can be used to enter a menu item please refer to Navigating the LeakControl menu)
- Press the start button to enter the calibration menu
- Cycle to the Pressure Relief Check menu option with the stop button and select the option by pressing start
- The pump will turn on and on the display will the pressure be shown which the LeakControl can reach until the safety pressure relief will open
- Stop the test by pressing start again
